Independent Makers
Showcasing Tori's Nature & CityScape Collections along with the work of four other Independent Makers and members of the SDC.
Five members of the Society of Designer Craftsmen will be exhibiting works for sale at the SDC's Rivington Gallery. The MSDC members include award-winning designer-makers Marshall Colman (ceramics), Euan Cunningham (graphics), Adam Hussain (glass), Tori McLean (textiles) & Jessica Nobel (jewellery) who present their handcrafted works as an antidote to mass market products. Bringing craft skills to contemporary design the show offers high quality, unique objects with colour as a stong feature.
Tori will be showcasing her Nature Collection of hand-printed interior products and her CityScape scarves of London, Paril and New Yory, each of which is screen-printed by hand onto a silk, wool and cashmere blend.
All five artisans are members of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, which has been promoting high quality workmanship for over a hundred years.
The Society of Designer Craftsmen was founded as the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society in 1887. Among its past members are some of Britain’s most eminent designer-makers, including William Morris, Eric Gill, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Eric Ravilious, Bernard Leach, Walter Crane, W. R. Lethaby, William de Morgan, Edward Johnston, Michael Cardew, Dora Billington, Gordon Russell, David Pye and Gerda Flockinger. Its gallery in Rivington Street has a regular programme of exhibitions by current members.
